When you think about a bathroom, the first thoughts that should come to mind are wanting a fresh, clean, de-cluttered look, right? Maybe 1 or 2 focal pieces and if there's enough space, a really amazing free standing tub or brand new shower tile? Other than the kitchen, its usually the space that gets used and abused most often, so it's important to pick items that wont diminish in style over time, and is also an investment.
Here are some things to think about, once you decide that updating your bathroom is the way to go:

You don't have to renovate/remodel the entire bathroom for it to feel new and improved. Sometimes simple things like a new bath mat, shower curtain, a fun holder for your soap and toothbrush, and a new mirror are all you really need to bring in a whole new look, but not break the bank.
Don't be afraid to wallpaper a main wall. If you fall in love with a wallpaper and think it will tie in with the rest of the bathroom, go for it! You can either go with more of a neutral wallpaper to keep the space looking fresh and bright, or more of a bold funky and fun wallpaper. In that case, I suggest toning down the rest of the walls and decor items to offset the boldness of it.
If wallpaper isnt your jam, a nice shiplap or skinnylap for your accent wall is also a winning idea. You can stain or paint the wood whatever color you prefer, and this way you are drawing attention to the wall while also keeping along with the aesthetic

Sometimes greenery and artwork is all you need! If your space is pretty neutral and you get tired of that after awhile, try adding in some fun and colorful artwork, big or small. It can either be something personal and related to you, or something completely random like abstract art.
Greenery is always a win. If you have the space in your bathroom, by all means go with a tall fiddle leaf tree in the corner. If you don't, like myself, a few small succulents on the vanity or window still bring in that pop of green, but don't take away from any floor space. All in all, greenery is always a YES!
