Mid-Century Modern Remodel | Client Connection- Croatt part 4
Need to get caught up?
Client- Heidi and Dana Croatt: Maple Grove, MN
After months of planning, pricing, ordering, tracking, etc. there comes the best day of the project... photoshoot day! I love getting staging items, writing out the thank you card, putting together the gift box, and arriving on site before the photographer to shoot the space in it's remodeled state.
I am blessed to have one of my good friends be an interior's photographer. Lynsey of Lynsey Tjaden Photography has shot every one of my projects and this one just turned out so great and captured how much of a transformation we really achieved.
Heidi was home and had previously agreed to be in the shoot! We had so much fun staging it just right and reminisce about the whole process and that first design consult that started it all.
Don't forget to read the client interview below... it's well worth the scroll!

-Client Interview-
Heidi and Dana Croatt, Maple Grove, MN
Q- Why did you use an Interior Designer?
A-
"We knew we needed help managing the project, bringing our ideas together, and helping us figure out what to do with a space that we could not envision. We were hoping to take down a wall, but we didn’t even know if that would be an option, within our budget, or how it would change the space… and we needed someone to just help us process everything.“
Q- What was your #inspiration and what is your design style?
A-
"This is one of the reasons we knew we needed a designer - we did not want a finished project that adhered to just one design style, we wanted to mix several styles together. We love mid-century modern, but we also love bold colors and a comfortable style, and we needed the space to transition with the rest of our home. As a couple, we share similar style inspirations, but we had never been able to execute it the way we see it in our heads. This is one of the main reasons we loved working with Jeanna – she brought our ideas and personal style to life!"
Q- What advice would you give concerning #remodeling?
A-
"Hire Jeanna! We never thought an interior designer would be within our budget, but when we realized that we would save more than we would spend on one, we were convinced. We highly recommend other people use an interior designer to help them manage their projects. We loved getting to look at ideas and get inspired, but then just send all of that information to someone else who planned it out for us! She would come back and tell us what was within budget, what would realistically work with the space, and narrowed down choices so we could actually make them. The entire remodeling project was fast, easy, and so much fun… and that is all because we had an interior designer!"
Q- What would you do differently?
A-
"Not much…there might be a few minor things here and there that we would have changed, but we would never have known at the time so we still feel confident in our decisions."
Q- What was your favorite part?
A-
"Reconfiguring the layout with Jeanna, and getting to envision how we would use our new space. Once we knew we could remove the wall, we knew this project would be life-changing and that was an amazing feeling! We also loved getting to see how things we dreamed of (like a personalized unique backsplash, beautiful flooring, or the perfect couch) were within our budget and also could work together in our space."
Describe the remodel only using movie titles:)
A-
"Frozen (We had record cold days during this process, so we were home from school and work many days...we got to know our contractors really well!)
Panic Room (We pretty much lived in our small basement/home office, made a make-shift kitchen there and tried not to drive each other crazy!)
The Pursuit of Happyness (We loved watching it all come together. From the day we met Jeanna to the day we did our photo shoot, we loved watching our dream of an open, modern space that was uniquely our style come to life! The space has truly been life changing, and brought us so much happiness!)"
Thank you for joining in and reading! I hope you got an insight into what we do, who we work with, the reality behind making old spaces new, and how awesome are clients are!
