Modern Farmhouse Basement- Shaw part 3

As you will read in Part 4, we ended up doing the main level too for these clients, so when it was professional photoshoot day it was for 2 levels! We had a blast talking about all the changes, being moms, and Lynsey's (the photographer's) upcoming kitchen remodel.

After the shoot was done Lynsey and I had lunch at one of my favorite places Smith in Eden Prairie and we laughed at how much we liked the client Julia and how we ould all be friends!

That's one amazing part of my job...getting to know amazing people, like Julia and John and staying in touch with them after the project is done!

Entry:

Replacing the sliding door with a French door not only increased security, it made the space feel so much more custom and thought through!

A landing zone for back yard play is as functional as it is pretty.

Main Public Space:

Finding different work zones within a large open space is difficult, but we divided the space up into 5 areas. The entry, girl's play area, workout space, bar, and family living.

Shiplap on two of the walls brighten and bring visual interest. Light, low variance floor balance the dark wood of the barn door, floating shelves, and post.

Gray and navy cabinetry bring color and depth and a palette to build off of.

We were able to re-use the old upstairs sofa and loveseat, coffee table, and side table to save money. We purchased new throw pillows, poufs, and staging decor to feel fresh and new in their new location.

The Bathroom:

Staying true to the mood board we combined modern elements such like large format tile, round mirror, and linear drain with timeless features of faux Carrara marble porcelain and light green, calming walls.

Guest Bedroom:

The bedroom space was designed for guests on a short term stay. John and Julia didn’t need it to be huge, just big enough.
