Hi I'm Hailey!
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hailey Hansen! I'm a new face to PID. Currently I'm in my senior year at Augsburg University, pursuing a business degree in marketing with a minor in business administration. In order for me to graduate from Augsburg you either have to do an internship, study abroad or do student services.
Naturally, I wanted to get work experience, so it was a no brainer to choose the internship route. The hard part was, what did I want to do? It's the never ending question you get at family gatherings and holidays... "What do you want to do with your degree?" In all honesty, I had no idea (between you and I still don't know sometimes).
However, reaching out to Jeanna was the breath of fresh air I needed to figuring out what I want to do with my degree... which was building something from the ground up while using my creativity, knowledge, and ambition in any aspects possible.

-August 19th, 2019 at 3:18pm was the time and day things changed. #internship #career
Please excuse my sister's language but I may (or may not) have been saying the same things in my mind too!
Storytime...
With being in school full time I also was working part time as an assistant manager at Nothing Bundt Cakes, in Maple Grove. Within the store we have something called a fish bowl where business people are able to drop their business card in the bowl for a chance to win cake for their office. Jeanna's business card had somehow dropped on the floor sometime either that day or the day before (I sometimes wonder if I hadn't been working that day would I have missed my opportunity entirely if someone else had picked up her card?).
When I picked up her card, (normally I don't look at the business cards as I was sometimes the one to reach out to the individuals congratulating them on winning cake for their office), so I didn't want to create a form of bias when picking at random. However, something compelled me to look at this one card and my eyes lite up right then and there! I ran to the back of the house and to the desk where I had my things and quickly snapped a picture thinking "maybe I'll reach out"...
In all honesty I didn't think I could do it, I'm a shy and awkward individual and sending an email out to a complete stranger asking to be hired on as their intern was TERRIFYING to me!
But all day at work on the Friday I found Jeanna's card I couldn't stop thinking about the opportunity of what could be an amazing job experience. That night after work I drafted up an email and sent my sister multiple pictures asking her "does this sound okay?!", "should I even do this?", "Is this unprofessional?" anything you can think of I was thinking and I was waiting for my sister to give me a reason not to send the email.
Obviously, since you're reading this, I end up emailing her anyways and I couldn't even begin to describe to you the emotions I had going through my body when I hit send. I think it took me almost an extra hour just to get the guts to press send. And guess what? Jeanna responded. WHAT!!!
-What is it like working with Jeanna?
In the short time that I've worked under Jeanna I can say that what I get to do everyday is nothing short of fun! It's ambitious, adventurous, and Jeanna's diligence has rubbed off of me.
Jeanna allows me to use my creativity, which is very refreshing coming from retail jobs where decisions are made for you (no hard feelings to NBC!). Being a newbie to marketing, it's safe to say I'm going to make mistakes *knocks on wood*. However, Jeanna wants me to learn and figure everything out in the best way possible while giving me guidance from her years of wisdom.
I get to do DIY projects for clients (recently spray painting a pot to be the prefect shade of gold), help pick out tile, paint swatches, lighting, countertops, you name it.
I also get to take over the PID Pinterest! Watch out Magnolia I'm coming for you! I get to look at every single design board, design space(s), before and after photos, you name it. I'm the person behind the scenes that gets to watch a space transform just like you guys get to see your space(s) transform.
As a little girl, my father and I would watch This Old House together and I'd always be fascinated with how much a space and a home can change and what tips to use for certain things. Since working with Jeanna it reminds me lots of watching This Old House, in the fact that when we go onto job sites for check-ins I feel as though I'm on set!
In all seriousness, when going to the job sights I learn something new every time from both Jeanna, and the contractors, further expanding my knowledge of the construction world.
I have a lot to learn ahead of me as I'm barely scratching the surface of what's to come. No matter the workload, big or small given to me, I know I'll be able to learn a lot of lessons along the way both in my professional career but also on a more personal level with Jeanna's help and guidance. #marketing #businesswomen
- Now I can't take all the credit for myself! My family has helped me a great deal along this crazy journey. Starting with my older sister Ashley, (top right photo), she's the one that helped push me to send the email that would now lead me to working at a wonderful company.
My loving boyfriend Aldrin, (top left photo) who has been my rock through all my years of school and now as I'm transitioning from school and into a new career field.
My twin brother Hunter, (middle bottom left photo), who actually is doing the same degree as me (I knew my degree path first so he copied me ;) ) we go back and forth with what works best in the marketing field.
My parents of course, for instilling in me at a very early age to work hard for what I would want and who created a work ethic in me that pushes me everyday.
And lastly, that big fluffy white fur baby you see in the photos above, Maya, Ashley's dog, for making me laugh when things in life get stressful. #family #workethic
I hope these little tidbits about me helps paint a small picture of who I am when you see me from time to time goofing off on the PID Instagram! I can't wait to help transform your space(s) into a dream come true along side Jeanna.
Thank you for joining in and reading! I hope you got an insight into what we do, who we work with, the reality behind making old spaces new, and how awesome are clients are!
