Sherwin Williams has announced that the 2021 #ColoroftheYear is "Urbane Bronze", and we couldn't be MORE here for it!!! It's a color that can make any space feel complete.
SW Urbane Bronze #coloroftheyear
In 2020, Sherwin Williams chose "Naval" as the color of the year, which is basically a rich Navy color that creates a calm and grounding environment while also presenting a more quiet yet confident look.
Not to be outdone however, "Urbane Bronze" is a perfect combo of bold yet understated and can be used in any space however you want it to. The great thing about a color like this is that you have so many options as far as what you choose to surround it with.
You can choose to surround the room with many neutrals like your bone whites, blacks for accent pieces, and of course lighter greys. As far as other painted walls close by, you can also brighten up the feel of the entire space with neutrals as well.
On the flip side, if the color alone is neutral enough for you as it is, you could always throw in pops of color to surround the space. Maybe your living room is painted Urbane Bronze and you want just as much of a statement color for the front door leading in to represent your personality as a person, a nice bold red could be a great contrast. Maybe you choose to throw some lime green pillows on the couch to rest right infront of the Urbane Bronze on the wall......the choice is yours!
Personally, I think you can never go wrong with grey and this one is a perfect balance of allowing you to be bold with the darker hues to it, but keeping your space neutral in all the best ways possible. It almost speaks for itself, and you can choose from there how to complete the space with your furniture and other decor items.

When pairing furniture with this fierce color, you can complete either look mentioned above with natural materials like wood finishes, stone accents, and mixed metals that tie these earthy neutrals back to their nature-inspired roots.
Other members of the PID team have this to say about Sherwin's newly voted color of the new year:
Hailey: "Now more than ever our homes have been the focus of a lot of different areas of our lives. Urbane Bronze is a calming, neural accent color that can help ground a room or even be used as an exterior color. I think this color will be seen a lot more than your average whites and greys in the coming months to create a comfortable retreat for anyone's home."
Libby: "I am LOVING Urbane Bronze! It is a very versatile color. You could make it an accent wall or paint your whole house with it. It makes lighter colors really pop, which adds character to a home."
(Newest Intern Libby will be posting on the blog from time to time as well, so stay tuned for all the fun Interior Design related inspo she has coming your way!)

All in all, we are so excited about this new color chosen as #coloroftheyear. PID has used this color for clients in the past, and it hasn't failed us yet! Personally gray is my favorite color when it comes to Interior Design and painting spaces in general, as well as decor items for styling.
Check out Sherwin Williams and all they have to offer for your next painting projects!
