Maple Grove Addition Part 3- Basement

When our long-time VIP clients let us know they were ready to finish the basement that was a part of our original addition we were jazzed, and for a few reasons.
One, they have complete trust in us and never shy away from any of our crazy ideas, and two they wanted the space to feel like local restaurant Brick & Bourbon with moody vibes, lots of wooden accents, and statement lighting.
They had a couple more requests, which we implemented such as a movie theater room with theater seating, completely tiled guest bathroom that could be "hosed down if necessary," ceiling features, drink rails, unexpected storage door, and wet bar that really is more of a kitchenette.
So, not a small list to tackle.
Alongside Tschida Construction we made all these things happen.

Delano New Build

We came about this client by Hailey offering an opinion at our flooring store. The client was there to make selections and was overwhelmed. Hailey jumped in and the rest is history.
The clients were moving for work from North Carolin and were excited to get out of the rental home they were squeezed into.
Built by local builder, LD Homes, this rambler set on a beautiful lot is California Coastal design throughout.
We incorporated blues and greens with medium toned stains and even had some fun with wallpaper, wooden feature walls, a lot painted cabinetry in green.
We focused on beautiful lighting and tile and they stand out throughout the home.
Making selections for a whole house is a big undertaking for clients and we were honored and really had fun bringing all the visions to life... and grateful for their trust in us.

Saint Michael Finished Basement

Tschida Construction teamed up with us for this basement in Saint Michael.
We focused on family quality time with an area for games, such as a portable ping pong table that can be taken down for extra space and a foosball table as well.
We also planned storage for the many games, books, and movies with a builtin cabinetry wall with tv mount incorporated in.
There's a wet bar for entertaining and easy clean up that caters to kids and adults alike.
A guest room with adjacent guest bath makes for hiding toys away on a daily basis and an area for guest to escape all the kids on special occasions.
The guest bathroom has a beautiful tiled shower with large format porcelain tile, built-in niche with floating shelves, and a beautiful stained vanity and quartz top. Gold finishes take this basement bathroom over the top.

Maple Grove Boys Bath

Another referral from one of our favorite clients!
The clients wanted to updated their teenage son's bathroom that had a few wear and tear issues.
There was talk to paint or replace cabinetry as the client had a vision and the current stain seemed to be in the way of that. They also wanted to be cost effective, so we designed around the existing stained cabinetry.
Tschida Construction helped with the execution and helped with some creative behind the scenes problems that popped up. Having a design-build team that works together is so important and Nick and his team are awesome.

Another MinnetonkaFinished Basement

Landmark Remodeling partnered on us with this basement project in Minnetonka.
Long-time, returning clients wanted a family hang out space, equipped with a fireplace, wet bar, bathroom, workout room and guest bedroom.
They loved the idea of adding value to their home, but loved the idea of having a place for their boys to go with friends even more.
We used the luxury vinyl plank from their main floor for continuity, as well as navy influences that we have incorporated around their home so far, this time in the cabinetry and vanity.
The unique fireplace design was a fun alternative to shiplap and a regular tiled facade.

Minnetonka Finished Basement

Only a few minutes from the project to the left (Another Minnetonka Finished Basement) this space was just as cluttered, dark, and under utilized.
Done in tandem with Landmark Remodeling, this space had a specific aesthetic: to be warm, with stained cabinetry, gas fireplace, and wet bar.
They also have a musically inclined son who needed a place for his drums and piano. We had amble space to accomodate everything they wanted.
We decided to move the existing laundry to another location, which allowed for a true bar space and two-fold, a dedicated laundry room with folding counter and utility closets.
The existing bathroom was one of the scariest we've seen, but we knew we could save it.
Overall the space was a huge transformation!

Maple Grove Main Floor New Vibes

We were referred by one of our best clients to help these clients re-imagine the main level public space of their new-to-them home.
They felt the home was nicely done, just not their style. They chose the house for the location, pool in the backyard and amazing basement space with theater and bar.
At the very first walk through we started throwing out big ideas, like removing all the walls, new kitchen layout, metal staircase, grand, but modern fireplace. They loved it all and said that this is the forever home... so not that money doesn't matter, but they want to do it once and love it.
Tschida Construction was our partner-in-crime and we brought the house from formal to modern with some really cool features. Our favorites were the faux concrete two story fireplace, the mirrored french doors at the front entry that allows you to see out but not in, and the statement quartzite island counter stone.

Maple Grove California Coastal Basement

Tschida Construction alongside Pro Design Custom Cabinetry helped bring an unfinished basement to life.
The clients love the design aesthetic of California Coastal and wanted to integrate it into their basement design.
We worked closely with them and created some really beautiful elements like the concrete fireplace with custom stained rifted white oak floating shelves, hidden bookcase door that leads to a secret game room, and faux rifted white oak beams.
The bar area was another feature area to have some stunning, yet subtle features like a waterfall peninsula detail and artisan tiled backsplash.
The light floors and walls brighten the space and also add to the coastal feel.

Finished Basement in St. Paul

We love finishing basements and this one was no exception. Creating a new family friendly space from dark and dingy is always so rewarding.
Tschida Construction facilitated the construction end and we made sure even though it was a small space, we had some big style. The slat stairwell feature males the space feel more open and spacious and the artisan tile in a basketweave pattern elevates the space.
Installing luxury vinyl plank on the floor in a warm brown undertone and light wall color also makes the space feel less basement and a more open and airy.

Maple Grove Office Revamp

Long time client and friends (see projects: Maple Grove Farmhouse Kitchen & Maple Grove Laundry) wanted to up their office game since they now work remotely full time.
We did a custom built-in with Pro Design Custom Cabinetry around the window to include a bench space for reading. It needed to have both open and closed storage and feel like it had always been there.
We found an amazing wallpaper for the zoom backgrounds and a one of a kind gold ceiling fan.
West Elm desk in a mid century modern in walnut finish and a ruggable rug paired perfectly with a statement chair and very thoughtfully sought out art.

Rogers Finished Basement
When an old neighbor referred us to a new construction home built in my old stomping grounds I was excited. First, close to home. Second it was the EXACT same floor plan as the last house I built.
We had a local contractor, Curt Schmitz sign on to do the construction and went to work on layout and addressing their wants, needs, and wishes for the space.
Since they had a fireplace upstairs they did not want one int he basement. This gave us the opportunity for a whole wall of built-ins with Smart Source for major storage and display. We also did a bar area that turned out perfectly. The space also had a space room we dedicated to a work out space with barn door.
We did luxury vinyl plank throughout, even in the bathroom, which we have been doing increasingly.

Returning Client- Plymouth Kitchen Remodel
With Landmark Remodeling by our side we tackled the fourth project we have been on with these long-time clients. They have wanted to refresh the kitchen from day one of looking at it and were very excited that they were finally doing it four years later.
We went back and fourth on whether we reface the current cabinetry or do the whole gut and remodel route. This is a conversation we have all the time with clients and we gave our opinion to save the money and only refresh.
We landed on refacing and then applying some of those saving into refacing the fireplace in the adjacent family room to tie the two spaces together.
Since we were replacing the counters we took the opportunity to extend the island to accomodate more counter space and additional stool seating.

Plymouth En Suite
We have seen it all.
This house is gorgeous, with newly remodeled kitchen and family room addition, beautiful furnishings with lovely decor.
When the client's told us their owner's suite bathroom was scary we didn't believe them. Now, this space wasn't scary, but it definitely needed help.
One small vanity tucked away in a corner and duct tape holding tile up in the shower, to name a few of the issues.
After interviewing a few contractors, we moved forward with Integrity Remodeling & Design Group.
We completely changed the layout to have a double vanity, relocated the toilet to be able to remove a wall, and increase the shower size three times over. This time without the use of duct tape.
The homeowner's repurposed the furniture linen closet by re-painting and installing new hardware, making it a perfect cost-effective storage solution.
This space is not only timelessly beautiful it now matches the rest of the home's impeccable design.

South Minneapolis Kitchen
Our beloved love tub clients referred us to our sweet client in South Minneapolis who wanted to finally remodel her kitchen.
She works with our love tub client and followed that project closely and was excited to do her space.
The hardest challenge with South Minneapolis homes are their small spaces and the close lot lines that prevent additions.
We, along with contractor Landmark Remodeling decided to keep the layout, but change the functions of the cabinetry.
She wanted a new floor and we decided luxury vinyl plank was the answer. We also switched the location of the dishwasher so we could have pullout garbage and recycling.
In addition to the kitchen we helped her source her new dining room furniture.
And the best part...she is already scheming her next remodel, which is the biggest compliment we could get.

Maple Grove Part 2- Main Floor
Once their basement remodel was finished they decided that wasn't stressful enough... they needed to tackle every square inch on the main floor. I joke, but this is not for the faint of heart. Being without a kitchen is a major inconvenience, especially with children.
The transformation is a completely different house. The new floors lighten and the kitchen layout is so much more function and spacious. The addition in built-ins with a coffee bar in the kitchen makes the space seem very high end.
The removal of the closet in the back entry and conversion into a built-in locker unit is one of our favorite and most widely done spaces, and for good reason.
The cute little powder is completely updated and is perfect for guests and the daily use of the homeowners.
The homeowners did some work themselves, some with their sub contractors, and the rest with our general contractor, Tschida Construction.

Maple Grove Part 1- Basement
Sometimes things just happen organically. This client reached out to me in a professional capacity to see if I wanted to advertise in his new magazine. I declined at that time because as team we have chosen to be referral based, not advertising based.
Even with turning him down, he and his wife decided to sign on with us for their basement... which then upon completion rolled into their main floor (part 2).
They wanted a very distinct style and already had a pretty good idea of what they wanted. We just helped bring it all to life. They wanted a kid friendly space that still had an adult vibe that no longer was based off of furniture from college hand-me-down years.
Since they loved modern farmhouse style we had to make sure there was shiplap and also some stained wood elements to warm up the space.
This space is a great example of a very nice finished basement done cost effectively without sacrificing some comforts or features.

Maple Grove Traditional Ensuite
I will be the first to admit that I love black and white and simple design. So, when my realtor reached out asking PID to remodel her owner's suite bathroom and bedroom fireplace I knew I would have a challenge.
I knew she had a very traditional style with a love for red. I also wanted to make sure we gave her the same amazing service and experience she gave me. No pressure.
PID partnered with Landmark Remodeling and tackled a few issues we didn't know the answer to right away, like adding a door into the bathroom from the bedroom, squaring off an angled wall, and making a giant whirlpool tub into a freestanding one with free standing fixture plumbing from the ground.
We were able to get a furniture vanity at a great price from Houzz and then had Pro Design Custom Cabinetry match the door style and stain of a complimentary make-up vanity and flanking linen closets.
Overall the space still is traditional, but neutral and timeless.

Chaska Finished Basement
Tschida Construction and PID to the rescue! We have done a few unfinished basements in our day with Nick and his crew... second in this southwestern suburb of Chaska.
The clients wanted a comfortable modern farmhouse feel. They wanted it light, bright, and ready for entertaining.
with most of the space having a neutral tone color palette, we brought in a pop of blue in the bathroom shiplap feature wall and echoed it throughout the space in textiles and decor.
The wet bar/kitchenette area is equipped with all the things necessary to entertain a large number of guests and still see the game or movie in the tv area right fro the barstools.
We chose stained cabinetry for a warmer fell and for longevity as it is more conducive so wear and tear.
The guest bedroom also got a little fun feature of built in shelf niche.

Hugo Snowbird Remodel

These clients (who were referred by their realtor) are lucky enough to escape the brutal Minnesota winters. They trusted the PID team to remodel their home with Landmark Remodeling while they were away enjoying the sun and escaping the pains of remodeling... dust, noise, so many boxes.
The clients wanted to update without a major remodel. They also wanted to keep some of the warm golden oak in their space...something we are not used to!
We laded on painting the cabinetry, new counters, new back splash, lighting, and floors.
We also refaced the corner fireplace in the loving room with a natural stacked stone and mantle.
The powder bath got a little face lift too and convinced another victim... we mean client that wallpaper was a must.

Wayzata Mid Century Addition
Two years this project took from the initial consult to photoshoot.
Tschida Construction and PID teamed up to facilitate this two story addition that took the tiniest kitchen and made it aa entry into the house with a new walk in closet, powder bath, and open concept feel into the new addition that is a large kitchen with 12 foot island and a family room with a floor to ceiling stunning gas fireplace.
The old living room in the existing structure became a large dining area that opens to the backyard deck.
We took it one step further and replaced the doors and flooring down to the (not remodeled) bedrooms so that with the doors closed the whole main floor looks like a new build.
This project was well worth all the delays and obstacles it faced being done in the height of Covid.

Maple Grove Whole House Face Lift
When I came to stage and photoshoot the space my clients let the photographer know there wasn't a room in the whole house PID didn't do something in. When I asked why they originally contacted me they reminded me it was for a cracked tile in their owner's suite bathroom. We all had a good laugh.
Tschida Construction tackled the construction end and helped remodel three bathrooms, stair railing update, kitchen update, laundry room remodel with Custom cabinets from Pro Design, and new paint and lights throughout.
Their house no longer eels straight out of 1995 and has them so proud of their new spaces.
That is such a good feeling as an Interior Designer and Remodeler to know you made a difference in how someone feels about the place they call home.

Edina Guest Bathroom
One of many projects planned, we tackled this area first.
We eliminated an unnecessary ceiling soffit that had unflattering recessed down lights and a wall between the vanity area and toilet/tub.
This allowed for the space to feel much more open and bright.
We put in a new tub and tiled to the ceiling with a recessed niche for storage.
The installed a new tile floor and double vanity.
We went with brushed nickel finishes and a spa-like paint color make this guest bathroom not only inviting but a retreat for all who use it.
Landmark Remodeling did the work and went above and beyond when there was a hiccup on the vanity top and help remedy everything swiftly.

Maple Grove Main Floor Revamp
A referral from an awesome client lead to this project that we paired with Tschida Construction.
We did a complete gut and remodel of the kitchen and powder bathroom and the change was so impactful.
We knew we couldn't leave the outdated fireplace and built-in area in the family room adjacent to the kitchen so we painted the golden oak cabinetry and updated the hardware and mantle.
The staircase to the second floor was also an area the homeowners wanted to address so we removed the landing and turn and just made it a straight shoot with metal spindles and new flooring.
The whole main floor got new flooring, paint, and lighting.

Long Lake Simple Kitchen
Alongside Landmark Remodeling, we took a straightforward request- bring my outdated, small, simple kitchen into 2022.
We removed the wall between the galley kitchen and the (what was supposed to be formal dining room) makeshift flex office space to create a more open feel.
Since the oven was older than any member of the PID team and the client wanted this to be his one and only remodel, we went with transitional, neutral, and functional design plan.
We also painted matched the existing built in cabinet to the kitchen cabinetry "white" to connect the eat in kitchen space. This was a great cost effective solution.

Plymouth Scope Creep part 2- owner's suite
In addition to their laundry, mudroom, and powder bath, we also remodeled the owner's suite.
We "borrowed" space from their long bedroom to add a second closet. We created a new layout for the bathroom to include a private toilet room (with unexpected wallpaper), larger shower, bold paint color, and a soaking tub.
They had also asked for a steam shower and sauna... but being the dream killers we are we had to scale back. Don't worry, we are doing those elements in their upcoming basement remodel.
We had custom designed cabinetry with Pro Design using rifted white oak for the vanity and the floating shelves over the freestanding tub.
We also made sure to incorporate a bench, oversized niche, and hand held shower fixture...all must have for the clients.

Plymouth Scope Creep part 1- laundry/mudroom/powder bath
Referred by our client across the street, this project was one for the books!
It started out just as a laundry room, that then included the back garage entry, that migrated to the owner's suite, that then logically had to include the remaining powder that was located between the spaces.
For the laundry we removed the second powder bath on the main level, as well as a closet and rearranged the layout so that the once tiny room was double in size with storage and a refrigerator.
For the mudroom we removed the classic bifold closet and made it a built-in locker unit.
We tied the two spaces together with a tiled floor and pocket door.
For the powder we just did cosmetic updates, including a bold navy vanity and fun wallpaper.

Richfield Kitchen & Breezeway
Referred by Landmark Remodeling, this project was special.
One of the clients was high school friends with the owner of Landmark, so there was an added pressure to do an amazing job. They purchased the house with all intentions of remodeling right away... but as with most clients, life had other plans.
When we arrived the space was not functioning well at all and there were obvious problems such as cabinet doors literally falling off, electrical, and efficiency issues.
We made the breezeway an open floor plan family room. The kitchen seems like an entirely new house and the clients are beyond happy with both the aesthetic and the function.
The love color, especially orange, so we had to bring that in through the stove wrap and the grout.

Maple Grove Addition part 2
In this Tschida Construction project we did not one, but TWO two-story additions. The other phase was the butler's pantry, laundry room, mudroom, and massive storage closet. This second addition off of the previous kitchen double the kitchen's footprint, added an extremely large dining area, and a new deck that has an awesome indoor/outdoor window connection. Another cool feature is the double dishwashers anchored by a beautiful farmhouse ceramic sink. A undercabinet beverage fridge, huge windows overlooking the wetlands, and statement backsplash also make this space functional and unique. We also continued the lvp throughout the main level, refinished their fireplace built in wall and got all new furnishings. Talk about a transformation!

Maple Grove DIY Refresh
The client's did the work themselves on this on and I do say did a fabulous job. We helped them make the design choices, did the quotes, and purchasing to save them money by using our trade accounts, but they chose to general the project and get help where needed. They used our awesome tiler Jacob and were very happy to have spent the money on that portion.
The cabinets were not in budget to paint so we made choices that went well with the existing stain, but also modernized and brightened the space.
Overall, the kitchen and powder bath look brand new and the client's didn't overspend to do so!

Medina Basement
Normally we turn unfinished basement spaces into finished, but in this case, the basement was already done.
This new(er) construction home, now on it's second owner had the bonus of a finished basement, it just wasn't what they wanted.
So, with landmark Remodeling, we added a bar area with sink, fridge, microwave, wall mounted tv, and overhanging counter area for stools to view the big game.
We also borrowed space from an unused guest bedroom to create a linear gas fireplace with stone façade, custom mantle, and built-in cabinetry... all while saving the existing carpet. This conscience effort saved so much money!
We did replace the slider door tile to match the bar, but that again didn't effect the pre-existing carpet.

Mound Kitchen
A long time client of Landmark Remodeling wanted to refresh their 1920's Lake Minnetonka home. Landmark had previously worked on their main floor bath, upstairs addition, porch, railings, but knew they needed design help for the small and awkward laid out kitchen. As a team we had to come up with some very creative solutions and relocate the fridge, close up the door pass through to the dining, and relocate the door to the basement.
Aesthetic wise we needed to lighten and brighten since there wasn't any natural light. We also decided to replace the flooring on the whole main level and add a gas linear fireplace in their adjacent living room.

Roseville EnSuite
A referral from Facebook Group, these clients were on a timeline to get into their newly purchased home that needed a whole lot of updating!
We first tackled their flooring and stair railing, so they could move in.
We then got to work on their owner's suite bathroom, which had a lot of unused space and outdated finishes.
A few of the things we changed: we turned a built in tub to a freestanding, changed the orientation of the shower and made it larger, and swamped out a built in vanity for a freestanding furniture vanity.

Mound Kitchen Refresh
When their neighbor (the other Mound Kitchen) started their kitchen remodel planning with us and Landmark Remodeling, these clients decided it was time to refresh theirs too!
We coordinated the remodels to be efficient.
Like all clients, we went in to change a few things and after project scope creep, we had added painting, and lights throughout, in addition to new counters, backsplash, and hardware. The space was truly transformed without spending remodel level money.
We met them at our Stone su0plier and immediately fell in love with a quartzite piece displayed outside... little did we know it was spoken for and very distinctive color that is not offer anywhere else. We were devastated... but the stars aligned and they did not need all of the slabs and we got the remnants!

Blaine Owner's Bathroom
When an Instagram follower reached out saying she loved our work and desperately wanted her bathroom remodeled we were honored to help! With Landmark Remodeling, we not only spruced up her bathroom, but her bedroom and main floor fireplace facade too. We threw out the ideas of bold color, wallpaper, fun prints, and she gave us the green light to be creative. The end result is a timeless, yet fun and a design tailored to our client's personality.

Chanhassen Owner's Bath
When we first looked at this space we were so baffled by so many of the layout choices that were made. For instance the teeny tiny corner neo angle shower and the dropped soffits with less than ideal lighting. We decided a double vanity was a must, along with a large shower and a design that was not trendy, but gave some much need style. We brought in Landmark Remodeling, and as a team brought a creative design to life. We have some features such as the pre existing ledge we made a "niche" and then a second "bench" that allowed for shaving and solved a structural issue with a skylight above. All the behind the scenes planning worked out perfectly!

Maple Grove Kitchen Refresh
Remodel or Refresh??? We get that question all the time in our initial home consult. They want the space updated, but don't want to spend the money that a true gut and remodel costs. In this case we offered valuable advice of how to spend the amount they were comfortable with to transform the space the most changes possible. We kept the island and buffet base cabinets stained, but painted the perimeter and buffet uppers to brighten the space. New counters, lighting, a, backsplash, lighting, and hardware were also very impactful. But, the biggest change was removing uppers and creating a whole floating shelf wall with tile behind and sconce lighting. All of this was done with Landmark Remodeling.

Maple Grove Farmhouse Kitchen
Construction done by Stoltz Installation and Carpentry and humor provided constantly by long-time clients and friends. They did their laundry/mudroom with us and realized soon after the kitchen had to go! We changed from peninsula to an island and the homeowner worked on changing out the golden oak trim as his own side project while the remodel was taking place. We added some painting of the adjacent living room built-ins near the end when they finally agreed it had to be done or they would regret it. A fun coffee bar and and statement backsplash really make this space one of kind.

Chanhassen Guest Bath
Quick and easy update with to a full guest bathroom we did in conjunction with the owner's suite bathroom with Landmark Remodeling. We made sure that the changes were cost effective and still had a wow factor to them. We did a luxury vinyl plank to save money and did a tiled shower surround with decorative feature to heighten the finish level. We also did mixed metals and an equal balance of tan and gray to keep it from being trendy.

Maple Grove DIY Remodel
Hailey's first project designing start to finish! These homeowner's wanted our designs and access to our trade discounts, but had the time and family connections to do the work themselves. Although it took about a year to complete, the space is COMPLETELY different and they are somehow still ready for do more projects! We removed walls, relocated appliances, added walls... basically transformed they entire public space of their main level.

Maple Grove Finished Basement
A blank slate and open minds are a perfect recipe for creative design ideas. The homeowner's brother is a custom cabinet maker who brought our ideas to life and then Landmark Remodeling installed them and facilitated the rest of our vision. We had a lot of wants and wishes, and were to successfully do them all, including a gym, fireplace, hidden kid's room, hobby closet, and designer touches.

St. Louis Park Owner's Bathroom
Libby's first solo project that she worked hand in hand with Tschida Construction on. Water damage and (horrible) layout led to a complete re-design. They saved the budget by leaving the bathtub and made sure it now only made sense in the layout, but in the aesthetics too.

Plymouth Kitchen Refresh
Nothing is better than a repeat customer who refers you! So when we got the call it was time to refresh their kitchen and adjacent dining and living we were ready and willing. We brought back Landmark Remodeling and carried the modern, neutral style we did in their master. We painted their current cabinetry, did new counters, back splash, lighting, hardware, and faucet.
This was an excellent example of who affordable and impactful a refresh can be!
